Listen to Christchurch March - 31 October 4-6 pm starting at Hagley Park netball courts
The Minister of Education, Hekia Parata will receive a strong message from the Christchurch community tomorrow that the
Government needs to put children at the forefront of any plans for the future of education in Christchurch.
Schools and Early Childhood Centres and their communities will be joining together in a Listen to Christchurch March to
ensure that the Government hears that message very clearly.
NZEI National Secretary Paul Goulter says the Government needs to stop using the earthquakes as an excuse to experiment
with Christchurch children’s education.
The march will start at the Hagley Park netball courts at 4 pm and then move up to the hospital along Oxford Terrace and
down Montreal Street to the Art Gallery.
Speakers include: Labour leader David Shearer and Christchurch community organiser Wayne Hawker as well as NZEI Te Riu
Roa Vice President Francie Guy. (Education Minister Hekia Parata has sent her apologies saying that a prior commitment
has meant she will not be able to attend).
