Community offered free short ‘LibraryLive’ sessions

News Release

Friday 19 October 2012

Community offered free short ‘LibraryLive’ sessions from November

ROTORUA 19.10.12: Cooking and vintage clothes-making are just two of the fun and interesting new sessions that will soon be available to locals at Rotorua District Library.

Next month the library is introducing its ‘LibraryLive – Community in Action’ programme that will allow groups and individuals to share their stories, talents, experience or profession with others. LibraryLive sessions will initially be held four times a week, however may increase depending on demand.

Library marketing & promotions officer Sue Heke says the free sessions aim to bring alive information currently available in the library.

“LibraryLive will be informal and relaxed, and held in various spots around the library with anyone welcome to participate.

“We’re currently finalising a full-on calendar of short, snappy sessions to give locals a taste of what’s happening in our community.

“Examples include sessions with local woman Suzan Kostanich who will be running food classes ranging from planning meals and maximising the food budget, to making special Christmas treats, and Te Wananga o Aotearoa is holding a session to promote its free programmes.

“People may need to register for some sessions but generally it will be a case of just turning up on the day.”

Mrs Heke also encourages professionals willing to share career advice to host a session.

LibraryLive sessions will be advertised in the library as well as on the library website www.rotorualibrary.govt.nz.
