Community hui: UNCRPD and welfare benefit changes for disabled people
The Social Security (Benefit Categories and Work Focus) Amendment Bill will change Sickness Benefit, Invalids benefit and the way Disability Allowance is paid.
This workshop is for disabled people, their family, whanau and supporters. Join us as we discuss what the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) says about your rights to an adequate standard of living.
You will hear more about the proposed benefit changes and how to make submissions, from a community perspective.
Your comments will add to an Auckland Disability Law submission on the proposed changes to benefit.
Your comments will also be included in an independent report to the United Nations on what steps the New Zealand government should take to meet its obligations to disabled people.
