Lakes Leisure Staff Volunteer for Wakatipu Trails
Lakes Leisure office staff donned their gloves, gumboots and spades last Thursday to help plant hundreds of native trees and tussocks on behalf of the Wakatipu Trails Trust.

Under the careful guidance of trustee Barbara Simpson and her husband Neil, ten office staff including interim CEO, Gus Crawford, planted hundreds of kowhai, tussock and flax between the walking track and the highway at the southern end of Lake Hayes.

Interim Lakes Leisure CEO, Gus Crawford, said Lakes Leisure is focused on increasing the communities participation in sport and recreation so when the team was looking for an opportunity to volunteer their time to a community project the Wakatipu Trails Trust was an easy fit.

“While our turf team are outside every day, it was great to get the office staff doing something a bit different, especially on such a beautiful sunny day.
“Our team work hard to help get people active, so we are all really excited about the trails opening and feel quite proud to have done our bit to support this fantastic community asset. We look forward to taking part in similar community-based activities in the future.”
