Contiki doubling up in Rotorua
Contiki doubling up in
Rotorua

2012: Leading youth travel operator Contiki
Holidays is upping its focus on New Zealand’s geothermal
capital now adding an extra night’s stay in Rotorua for
its travellers on its major North Island tours.
Contiki General Manager Tony Laskey says the extra night gives 18-35’s two nights to chill out and see more of Rotorua.
“The extra night means our travellers have time for a Contiki-included guided tour of Ohinemutu Village to enjoy an in-depth understanding of Maori culture and history,” he says.
“It also gives them more time to check out other activities that the destination offers like the luge, mud pools or the Polynesian Spa helping fuel the local visitor economy.”
Laskey says with an expected boom in New Zealand film tourism, the additional night is also timely.
“As Matamata is about an hour from Rotorua, the extra night gives travellers wanting to take a trip to The Hobbiton movie set the time to do so with Hobbiton Movie Set Tours.”
The tours featuring an extra night in Rotorua are The Big Tiki and Kiwiana Panorama, 19 and 16-day tours of New Zealand; Northern Choice, an 11-day tour making its way from Christchurch to Auckland or vice-versa; and Sun and Steam, a seven-day tour of the mid-upper North Island starting and finishing in Auckland.
Contiki’s two-night overnight stays in Rotorua begin on October 8. For more information on Contiki Holidays, visit www.contiki.com.
