Mayor of Southland applauds support on the streets
Mayor of Southland Frana Cardno has applauded the support of New Zealanders and people from around the world who paused to sign a petition today to stop the monorail and tunnel projects in Fiordland.
Frana Cardno and other members of Save Fiordland were collecting signatures on Lambton Quay in Wellington receiving more than 300 signatures in two hours.
"There was an outpouring of support for our fight to stop these commercial projects that would destroy our world heritage and national parks and we were all delighted and humbled by the goodwill on the streets of Wellington," said Frana Cardno.
