One Night Only for Arthur Meek play in Devonport
For one night only
Monday 8 October 2012
This beautiful and moving play by former Michael King Writers' Centre resident Arthur Meek has been described as "superbly moving, exquisitely staged and wonderful"....and Laurel Devenie's performance as "astonishing and nothing short of extraordinary".
The one-woman play is based on the diaries of Lady Ann Martin, wife of the first Chief Justice in New Zealand, who settled in Judges Bay, Parnell. Her memoir recalls her interaction with Maori and her life in the colony, when many of her preconceptions are stripped away.
Directed by Colin McColl, this Auckland Theatre Company production is presented by the Michael King Writers' Centre as part of the Auckland Heritage Festival. Author Arthur Meek will be there and tickets are selling fast.
