Fatal Crash in Christchurch
Canterbury Police are asking for assistance from the Public in relation to a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred tonight on Shands Road near Marshs Road, Hornby, Christchurch.
The crash occurred at approx 11pm this evening (15/9/2012).  Witnesses reported that two vehicles were travelling in the same direction on Shands Road when one has struck pedestrians standing beside the road.
Neither vehicle has stopped.
One person was confirmed deceased at the scene and a second victim was taken to hospital.
Police are appealing to the public for help locating the vehicle that will have extensive damage to the front of the car.
They would also like to hear from the driver and occupants of both cars and would encourage them to come forward.
A scene examination will be taking place and motorists are advised that Shands Road in the vicinity of Marshs Rd, Hornby will be closed until further notice.
