You may be eligible for a scholarship or grant!
Do you or a member of your family need help searching for information on scholarships or grants?
A FREE BreakOut Workshop is being held at the Hastings Library on Tuesday 25 September, 5.30-6.30pm.
The Funding Information Service ‘BreakOut’ database provides access to frequently updated information on scholarships, awards and grants.
Paula Murdoch, District Libraries manager, says the searchable database will help individuals looking for funding for support during study, sport or professional development opportunities. ”Funding these activities can be beyond the means of some people and many are not aware of the scholarships and grants available.”
“Now is the time many of us are thinking about finding money to pay the fees for our children’s tuition or other study costs next year. Our libraries provide free access to this funding information and it is important the community knows what is available.”
“Trained library staff will give an overview of the BreakOut database and show people how they can use it to search for funding sources relevant to their situation”, Paula says.
Of the 3,788 awards, scholarships and grants listed in BreakOut, 2,129 are currently open for application.
“While not all of these are going to be suitable, you won’t know what is available until you look,” Mrs Murdoch says, “Our trained staff can show you how to do this efficiently.”
Eligibility criteria, closing dates, application requirements, contact details and guidelines for applying for funding are listed in the BreakOut database.
For more information on the upcoming workshop, contact Fiona or Sheryl at the Hastings Library on 8715180.
