Taupo Police investigate shooting of man
Taupo Police are appealing for information after a man was dropped off at Taupo hospital with a gunshot wound yesterday.
The 22-year-old man was deposited at the hospital at around 1.30pm yesterday afternoon with a wound to his leg.
His injuries are not life threatening.
Detective Sergeant Tony Manunui of Taupo police says police need to hear from anyone with information about the incident:
"This man has told us he was shot with a shot gun but is not providing any information beyond that.
"We believe the incident took place in the Mangakino area and it is important we establish exactly what has happened and why.
"Police will be talking to the man's associates today in an attempt to establish more details.
"If anyone has information I would ask them to contact Taupo police on 07 378 6060
"Alternatively you can be give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
