Ports of Auckland dispute to be examined at Council meeting this morning

The Maritime Union is attending the meeting of Auckland City's Accountability and Performance Committee this morning
(Thursday 13 September), when ACIL presents its fourth quarterly report for the 2011/2012 year.
ACIL is the Auckland council owned company that is the sole shareholder of Ports of Auckland.
Maritime Union of New Zealand National President Garry Parsloe says there is an expectation that ACIL will have to
answer questions from Councillors about the Ports of Auckland dispute.
Mr Parsloe says it is an opportunity for councillors to scrutinize and seek some accountability for the long running
dispute, which had yet to be resolved.
"We are hopeful that councillors will use this opportunity to get some straight answers, and we strongly hope this will
assist in getting a positive settlement to the dispute at the Ports."
He says it is essential that councillors extract information from ACIL so that the people of Auckland have a clear
picture of the costs and outcomes of management decisions at Ports of Auckland Limited, the key asset owned by ACIL.
The meeting of the Auckland Council Accountability and Performance Committee starts this morning Thursday 13 September
at 10am, at the Reception Lounge Level 2, Auckland Town Hall.
It is expected that ACIL will be presenting to the meeting at around 10.30am.
