Police locate mother of deceased baby girl
Hutt Valley Police have located the mother of the deceased baby girl, found by a Taita Drive resident yesterday morning.
Hutt Valley Tactical Response Manager Inspector Shane Cotter says as a result of an area canvas today, Police have located a woman in her early 20's, who has been identified as the mother of the deceased baby girl.
"When located by Police, this woman had not sought any medical attention, however she has since been hospitalised this afternoon and is being treated for complications as a result of the birth."
Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the baby's birth are continuing and a post-mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow.
Inspector Cotter says, "Police would like to thank media and members of the public for their assistance in relation to this incident."
Police are not in a position to make any more comment at this time until further enquiries are completed.
