Police are investigating two suspicious fires that occurred on Friday night in the New Brighton area.
At about 12:30am the Fire Service was called to a storage yard on Owles Terrace where a Mitsubishi Bus and Izuzu Truck were on fire.
A short time later an abandoned dwelling at 83 Bexley Road was discovered on fire. This property is an empty 'red zone' property and has been almost completely gutted on the inside by the fire.
Both fires appear to have been deliberately lit.
Detective Dion MURRAY of the Papanui Police said, 'we would like to hear from anyone who saw anyone in the area of Owles Terrace or Bexley Road on Friday night.'
Please call Detective MURRAY of the Papanui Police on 03 3741728 or Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have any information.
