Fatal shooting of hunter near Rotorua
Rotorua Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a hunter in a remote area south of Rotorua.
Police were alerted to the incident at 8.00am this morning by another hunter.
Police and CIB staff are at the scene in a remote area in the Waikite Valley around 30km south of Rotorua. Medical support is also there.
The hunter who reported the shooting is now with Police and assisting with the investigation.
The incident is believed to involve two men in their 20's.
The remote nature of the scene means it may be a while before further details can be made available.
