Auckland's Biggest Home Show Brought To Life

Millions of Dollars Worth of Construction Brings Auckland's Biggest Home Show to Life

After a full year of intense planning, the ASB Showgrounds is abuzz with energy and construction in preparation for what will be the biggest Home Show Auckland has hosted to date.

Over 50,000 visitors are expected through the ASB Showgrounds doors from Wednesday September 5th to Sunday September 9th, where the halls will be packed to the rafters with over $8 million worth of construction, showcasing more than $20 million worth of products for both inside and outside the home.

With Auckland’s housing market booming and homeowners scrambling to renovate and reinvest, the Auckland Home Show 2012 promises to be the most impressive in the show’s 35 years. Bursting with major exhibitors from kitchen designers to landscapers, it is the perfect place for all your renovation and restoration tips, advice and products.

Auckland Home Show Exhibition Director Amanda Magnus says the confidence in the housing market this year has been illustrated with a significant return to positivity by exhibitors and visitors alike.

“According to recent REINZ figures, house sale volumes in Auckland alone grew by 28.2 per cent in Auckland last month, compared with July last year,” says Magnus.

“Homeowners are seeing this as a signal that it is time to reinvest in their homes, or to renovate and sell,” she said. “And that is reflected in confidence right across the spread of Auckland Home Show exhibits.”

A number of new features have been introduced for the show this year including the stunning Space Module. A collaboration between award-winning companies Laminex, Samsung, Smeg, Natural Tree Products, Trends and Sonya Cotter Design, the Space Module pushes the frontier of design and home technology.

Visitors to the Space Module will see for themselves where fabulous design meets striking ground-breaking technology including touch-screen bench tops, picture frames and televisions all beautifully combined into this home-of-the-future.

Kitchens, bathrooms and other key renovation areas are seeing the biggest growth this year. In fact the Auckland Home Show team describes this as ‘the year of the kitchen’, with the most extensive array of kitchen products, services and design inspiration that the show has ever seen.

Kitchens are nothing without cooks however, and this year the Smeg Cooking Theatre hosts an array of some of the best culinary talent ever seen at the Auckland Home Show.

These high-calibre chefs include Paul Jobin, former Executive Chef at The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, supported by a spectacular lineup of Neil Brazier, Head Chef of the Pear Tree Restaurant, Jean Christophe Varnier, Head Chef at Orbit Restaurant Skycity Auckland, Nick Haszard, Head Chef at dine by Peter Gordon and Hayden McMillan, Head Chef at Tribeca – all who will demonstrate how to cook like a professional with minimal effort.

Other key features of the Auckland Home Show in 2012 include over 500 exhibitors displaying the latest eye-catching furnishings for bedroom or living room, colour and textile trends, roofing, cladding and more, alongside environmental experts in energy efficiency, lighting, insulation and heating… the list goes on!

As always, the Auckland Home Show is full of show specials, discounts and competitions and visitors are urged to bring their plans and save thousands on advice, products and services.
