Active trough replaced by a settled spell in most places
A fairly active trough is expected to clear most of New Zealand in the next 24 hours or so,followed by a gradual
clearance from any lingering showers.
Media and communications meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented "This trough has good upper level support so should
bring some active thunderstorms in places."
These thunderstorms are likely from later today through to tomorrow morning especially over eastern parts of New Zealand
with the risk of small hail.
The entire trough should shift away to the east of the country on Tuesday,allowing an anticyclone from the Tasman Sea to
build across New Zealand from the middle of the week. However, a new trough may interrupt the influence of this
anticyclone near the north of the North Island.
Corbett went on the say "The visiting anticyclone should bring a fine spell of weather to most places through the middle
and later part of this week, with perhaps some overnight frosts. However, some rain may return to the far north of the
North Island."
