Who’ll be Rotorua District Library's first ever Junior Library Chef?
Thirty school children are preparing to take part in Rotorua District Library’s new culinary challenge for young local chefs this week.
Heats for the library’s inaugural ‘Junior Library Chef’ competition take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday [29 to 31 August] from 3.30pm, with the grand finale on Saturday [1 September] from 12 noon.
Inspired by popular television show New Zealand Master Chef and Australia’s Junior Master Chef, the library competition will see a group of 9 to 12 year olds competing to prove that they are Rotorua’s best junior master chef.
Library marketing & promotions officer Sue Heke is encouraging locals to come along and watch Rotorua’s intrepid young cooks show their culinary wizardry, creative flare and technical skills to find an overall winner.
“Contestants will have had some preparation beforehand however they won’t know what they’re preparing until a mystery box reveals all,” said Ms Heke.
“We know it’s going to be a lot of fun for our young participants and for our audience.”
The winner of the inaugural Rotorua District Library Junior Library Chef title will take home a range of funky kitchenware.
