Masterton Assault

Wairarapa CIB are seeking witnesses to what is believed to be a sexually motivated assault on a fourteen year old girl in Queen Elizabeth Park (QE II) Park, adjacent to the swing bridge yesterday.
Police have referred a sixteen year old boy to youth aid section for follow up in relation to the incident which occurred at about 5pm on Saturday the 25th of August.
The girl appears to have been followed across the bridge before being forced down a bank.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of QE II Park around 5.00pm and may have seen or heard a anything by the swing bridge leading from the Deer Park.
Acting Detective Sergeant Mike SMITH of the Masterton CIB said "This has been a terrifying experience for the young girl and we are very keen to hear from anyone in the park near the swing bridge at the time who may have seen or heard anything”.
An extensive scene examination has been conducted, and enquiries are continuing.
