Hawkes Bay mums showcase their creative talents this weekend
This weekend a multitude of parents will be descending on the Rodney Green Centrennial Events Centre for the Baby & Child Show. Among them are a group of talented mums who between them will be displaying an amazing range of stunning handmade goods.
From gorgeous clothing, to beautiful pinboards, toys and gifts, these talented women bring a unique and individual flavour to the show which this year has nearly 70 exhibitors in all. Nicola Pentelow, the show’s organiser, says that “these women add a really personal and unique touch to the show.”
Among the gifted group is Denise Law from Central Hawke’s Bay who makes a range of clothing under her own label Licorice Lane. “I have always had a passion for sewing so to be able to turn this into a successful business offering gorgeous handmade children’s clothing has been a pretty exciting journey” says Denise.
As well as sharing a love of creating beautiful things from colourful fabrics, the group are mostly stay at home mums who love the opportunity to generate an income whilst still being at home with their young children.
Tristyn Sheely of Talking Dribble, says that for her it means that the needs of her family aren’t compromised. “My children don't seem to mind living in a bit of creative chaos!” she says.
Nicola, who is a local mum herself, created the Baby & Child Show to give families a great day out in winter when being cooped up at home with kids with energy to burn can give everyone cabin fever!
Now in its second year The Baby & Child Show will be at the Rodney Green Centennial Events Centre in Napier on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 August, with the doors open from 9.30 to 4.00 each day.
Parents, grandparents and couples planning to start their family are all welcome, as are kids of all ages. The show is a great day out for the family with plenty of activities and entertainment to keep younger children amused for hours.
For more information all the details are on the show’s website at www.babyandchildshow.co.nz.
