Ormiston Road car crash involving Police vehicle
Counties Manukau Police can confirm that today at 08.39 a Police car and a vehicle being driven by a member of the public were involved in a crash.
It is understood that the Police vehicle was travelling along Ormiston Road approaching the intersection of Preston Road and East Tamaki Road.
The Police Officer, who was en route to a priority one job, collided with the other vehicle. The vehicle was being driven by a male, age unknown, and was carrying one passenger, a female in her 40s.
Both members of the public were seriously injured and when travelling by Ambulance to Middlemore Hospital the female passed away.
The male is currently in a serious but stable condition.
The Police Officer involved in the crash has minor injuries.
Serious Crash Unit is investigating the incident and the Independent Police Conduct Authority has been advised.
