Have you got what it takes to produce a Hawke’s Bay Signature Dish??
As part of the 6th annual Hawke’s Bay Regional Signature Dish event, this year the public are being given the opportunity to put their own dishes forward as a new component to the competition is introduced.
The Best in Dish Farmers’ Market Challenge is open to the public asking them to put together a Signature Dish using at least 5 Hawke’s Bay ingredients. (all of which need to be able to be purchased at the Farmers’ Market). Recipes, a list of the Hawke’s Bay ingredients and a photo of the dish need to be sent in to Food Hawke’s Bay where the finalists will be chosen. The 3 best dishes will be asked to come to the Farmers’ Market on Sunday 30th September for a Farmers’ Market Challenge. At this stage in the competition all the Hawke’s Bay ingredients will need to be purchased on the day from the market stallholders.
We will have some celebrity judges, judging the ‘Best in Dish’ and the winner will be given 5 dining vouchers to eat out at some of the participating restaurants and cafes to sample their Signature Dish. One of these dining experiences will be with our very own food writer, Belinda Henley. As the sponsor of this new component to the event Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market Chair Joanie Williams from Origin Earth says “we are very excited at this new public component to the already successful Signature Dish event, it gives our customers the opportunity to really focus on using Hawke’s Bay produce and have a bit of fun creating a Signature Dish of their own. Having the Final Challenge at the market will create a real buzz and we look forward to seeing (and tasting!)the results”
Entries open on 7th September, the same day as the restaurant competition starts in Hawke’s Bay and close on 21st September.
