‘ECOYA’s An Arm & A Leg For Charity’
Rugby rivals donate limbs for charity
It works wonders on the footy field and he calls it “the money maker”. Now Dan Carter’s left leg is working hard for
charity.
Dan’s joining Bledisloe Cup rugby rival Adam Ashley Cooper in each donating the use of one of their valuable appendages
for a good cause.
Thanks to Australasian fragrance house and bodycare company ECOYA, Adam’s right arm and Dan’s left leg and foot have
been transformed into limited edition, life sized wax sculptures to raise funds for the stars’ charities.
The exact replica wax sculptures featuring the players’ greatest on-field assets are being auctioned online in the week
leading up to the first Bledisloe Cup test.
The auctions go live at noon on Sunday 12 August and close on Saturday 18 August - the same evening the guys meet on the
footy field in the first Bledisloe Cup test for 2012.
“Statues of great warriors or athletes are a centuries-old art form,” says ECOYA’s Geoff Ross.
“What we have been able to do with Dan and Adam is recreate exact life size forms of their arm and leg - their most
valuable assets on the rugby field. These can now become valuable assets to raise money off the rugby field, for
charity.”
The funds raised from Dan’s wax sculpture go to CanTeen, a well-known charity that supports young New Zealanders living
with cancer.
"CanTeen is a fantastic organisation with loads of inspirational members. I met a couple of kids who used to come to
training and were our number one fans. Unfortunately they are no longer with us so I wanted to help out where I could.
“They’re a cool bunch and always really upbeat and fun people to be around. You take inspiration from them. It's the
vibe and energy of the CanTeeners that made me want to be a part of it and help,” says Dan Carter.
“I hope that through this project with ECOYA we raise greater awareness for CanTeen, as well as raising a lot of money so
that CanTeen members can get the much needed care and services that only CanTeen can offer,” says Dan.
Funds raised from Adam’s wax sculpture go to the Fresh Tracks Foundation helping young people suffering from brain
injuries.
“I'm extremely proud and humbled to be an ambassador for the Fresh Tracks Foundation, helping raise awareness and funds
for those suffering ABI (Acquired Brain Injuries),” says Adam. “I have a very close and special association with the
people and families involved in the Fresh Tracks charity.
“I’m hoping ECOYA's ‘An Arm & A Leg for Charity' auction helps raise money to assist Fresh Tracks Foundation’s vision of improving the quality of
life for young people suffering ABI.”
