Canterbury Quakes to
tour New Zealand
Cantabrians have until 1 October this year to see Canterbury Museum’s highly acclaimed Canterbury Quakes exhibition before it goes on tour for the next three years.
The exhibition, which opened on 22 February this year as part of the February 2011 earthquake commemorations, has been one of the most important ‘must-see’ attractions currently on display in Christchurch.
Canterbury Museum director Anthony Wright says the exhibition has been hugely successful on a heightened emotional level, with many visitors sharing their earthquake experiences and stories with complete strangers as they tour the exhibition.
“Canterbury Quakes is not just a visual reflection on the incredibly traumatic events we have endured over the last two years. People of all ages and nationalities have been responding to this exhibition in ways we never imagined. It’s been an extremely emotional experience for a lot of people,” he says.
Otago Museum in Dunedin will be the first regional Museum to feature the touring exhibition in November this year.
