Victory Parade for Champion Chiefs
Super Rugby champions the Chiefs will celebrate their victory with a parade through central Hamilton on Monday.
The Hamilton-based team, who defeated the Sharks in Saturday night’s final at Waikato Stadium, will parade down Hamilton’s Victoria Street, from 12.30pm.
The parade will start at Knox Street, and culminate in Garden Place, with an official city congratulations to the team.
“This is the city’s way of saying thanks to the Chiefs, who’ve thrilled us with their play this season and capped it off with their first title, won on their home ground,” says Mayor Hardaker.
“We really want the Chiefs supporters to have a chance to celebrate with the team.”
The parade down Victoria Street will be under the control of rolling police road closure.
