Voting starts to bring someone ‘home’ to the Hutt
HUTT CITY COUNCIL NEWS RELEASE
1 AUGUST 2012
Voting starts to bring someone ‘home’
to the Hutt
Council’s Bring Your Home competition is set to be hotly contested with 85 entries received from around the world.
Public voting to determine who will win a return flight to Hutt City provided by the Hutt News begins today and runs until 31 August on facebook.
Mayor Ray Wallace says “the competition is proving a successful part of council’s I Hutt City campaign which is about building a positive profile for our city and shouting about the things that make our city a great place to live, work and play.
“We kicked off the campaign in February and received such a positive response from locals who liked the idea of acknowledging our qualities and attributes that we looked for ways to spread the message.
“We’ve received fantastic photos from people who passionately want to come and visit our city and I’m looking forward to welcoming the lucky winner to Hutt City and giving that person a taste of Hutt hospitality.
“However our main goal was to use the competition to raise awareness for I Hutt City and remind people that the special people, places and opportunities in Hutt City make it a place to love, a place they can proudly call home.
“Judging by the number of locals who’ve wanted an I Hutt City badge to simply wear themselves the competition is giving this sense of pride real momentum.”
