Applications now open for second round of Horizons community grants

Applications for Horizons Regional Council’s community grants programme are now open.

Grants are available to support community-led projects that help in making the Manawatu-Wanganui region a great place to live, work and play.

Community groups, schools, early childhood centres and iwi/hapu groups are all eligible to apply for a grant from the $20,000 pool. These will be awarded to projects that enhance the region and encourage more people to engage with the natural environment.

Horizons media and communications manager Caroline Rowe describes the community grants programme as “a great opportunity for the council to get behind community groups who are doing exciting work around the region”.

The last round of grants saw native planting, walkway development, plant propagation and management projects receive grants.

“Our first round showed that there are heaps of groups in our community that have some fantastic ideas for making our region a great place to live. Horizons is eager to engage with these groups and provide the opportunity for them to achieve their goals”.

For further information on community grants please visit www.horizons.govt.nz or phone Horizons on 0508 800 800.
