Puketoi wind farm decision welcomed by Wind Energy Association
The approval of resource consent for Puketoi Wind Farm is great news for New Zealand, says Eric Pyle, Chief Executive of the New Zealand Wind Energy Association.
“This consent provides another option for cost-effective, renewable electricity generation,” says Mr Pyle. Wind is recognised as one of the lowest cost options for new electricity generation in New Zealand.
“Coming shortly after the announcement that construction of Mill Creek will begin in a few months, this decision reinforces the growth potential in New Zealand’s wind industry.
“Ongoing growth in the wind industry is creating significant opportunities for Kiwi companies, both in New Zealand and overseas,” says Mr Pyle. A recent report by BERL identified opportunities such as service exports, development of new technology, and regional development.
