Nestlé Purina Feeds New
Zealand’s Cats
Five pallets of FRISKIES Dry Cat Food are being delivered to the Salvation Army in Christchurch this week, to help feed the pet cats of families who are struggling.
This donation comes at a time when a lot of Cantabrian families are still under pressure in the aftermath of the quakes, and are finding it hard to feed their pets.
The Salvation Army donation is part of a nationwide FRISKIES drop off, in which a total of over $350,000 worth of FRISKIES Dry Cat Food is being given away to independent cat charities in need. That equals 140 pallets, 7,100 boxes, 74,000 packs, or 44 tonnes!
Mark White, from Nestle Purina New Zealand, says he is thrilled that good homes have been found for the FRISKIES product.
“Our primary goal was to make sure that these huge amounts of cat food got to the right people. As well as the Salvation Army, we’ve managed to find independent cat charities all over the country that are desperately in need, and we’re so glad that we’re able to lend a hand.”
Michael Allwright, of the Salvation Army, is equally happy that the Salvation Army is now able to offer another way to help those in the community.
“In times of trouble, it can be a struggle to feed yourselves properly, let alone your pet. It’s great that we’re going to have this additional resource to offer families who have a cat, along with all of the other assistance we provide to the local community.”
FRISKIES cat food will also be distributed to other Salvation Army bases in the South Island, to help the Salvation Army continue the good work that it does in communities throughout New Zealand – with people and now pets!
This week, truckloads of FRISKIES cat food are being delivered to cat charities and trusts all over New Zealand. As Mark adds: “Our pets are always there for us, in good times and bad, so we want to be there for them too.”
