SCOUTS and Starship to launch exciting new partnership
SCOUTS New Zealand and the Starship Foundation are getting geared up to officially launch their new fundraising partnership in Wellington this Monday, at an event hosted by Her Worship the Mayor of Wellington, Celia Wade-Brown.
The partnership has been formed as part of the establishment of the “Let’s Mobilize” campaign – a nationwide fundraising initiative undertaken by SCOUTS New Zealand in support of the Starship Mobile Phone Appeal.
“The partnership between SCOUTS New Zealand and the Starship Foundation is an exciting initiative all about kids mobilizing themselves in order to help other kids,” says CEO of SCOUTS New Zealand, Chris Hooper.
The Starship Foundation is equally as enthusiastic.
“Starship has been operating its mobile phone collection for just over three years now. In that time, unwanted donated mobile phones have raised more than $1.5 million for the national children’s hospital,” says CEO of the Starship Foundation, Brad Clark.
The partnership will see scouts collecting mobile phones door to door, which are then on-sold or recycled through correct environmental channels in order to raise funds to support both Starship’s National Air Ambulance Service, and help SCOUTS New Zealand deliver safe adventure programmes and experiences for young people throughout New Zealand.
Ends.
