Call Mum for Free This Mother’s Day

Call Mum for Free This Mother’s Day

Telecom is celebrating Mother’s Day today by providing free calling to any New Zealand home line from any Telecom phone box in the country.

With 3,171 phone boxes from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island, there’ll be no excuse not to call Mum and have that all important chat on her special day.

Telecom Chief Marketing Officer, Jason Paris says, “Telecom understands that it’s important for people to be in touch with family members, especially on special occasions like Mother’s Day.”

“We are all about connecting New Zealanders so we thought we’d give Kiwis a helping hand to get in touch with their Mum to tell her how much they care this Mother’s Day,” he adds.

Telecom tracks the volume of calls made on special days such as Christmas Day, Mother’s and Father’s Day and New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Kiwis make significantly more calls each Mother’s Day than on Father’s Day so it’s obviously more important to keep Mum happy than it is Dad!

The busiest phone box overall in New Zealand currently is located outside the Manurewa New World in Auckland with a total of 1,048 calls made over the past 30 days.  A further seven Auckland phone boxes make the top 10 busiest phone boxes and their locations include Papakura, Mangere, Glenfield, Takanini and Papatoetoe.

The Telecom Mother’s Day phone box free calling offer includes calls to any New Zealand home landline from 7.00am to 9.00pm this Sunday May 13, 2012. It does not include calls to mobile phones or to overseas or 0900 numbers.
