Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track Bookings Open
Bookings for the Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track 2012/13 season will be available online from 30 April 2012.
The Hump Ridge Track, a 55km, 3 day loop track, will reopen for the summer season on 19 October 2012. A number of events are planned, including the popular Locals Challenge in November – a subsidised walk of the track for South Island residents. The annual Stump the Hump will also take place in February 2013. This 24hr non-stop adventure walk of the track is definitely not for the faint-hearted and has been hailed by some participants as harder than the Kepler Challenge.
Operations & Marketing Manager, Kate Hebblethwaite, said: “We’re looking forward to another busy season in the Deep South. Lots of exciting events are in the pipeline and we hope to welcome many more people to our little corner of paradise.”
The Hump Ridge Track is currently operating on winter mode, with only the most basic facilities available for walkers at Okaka Lodge. The Port Craig Lodge is closed although accommodation is still available at the nearby DOC hut.
The Hump Ridge Track is a community project, owned and operated by a Charitable Trust. Any profits are returned to the Tuatapere community to fund local projects.
Bookings for the 2012/13 season can be made online at www.humpridgetrack.co.nz
