Rotorua Shows Cody’s How Good The 'Real Vegas' Is!
“Rotovegas… epic!”
If you've seen the Cody's Las Vegas vs Rotovegas ads on television you'll know this line all too well.
Drawing on the success of the ads which have been popular on You Tube and Facebook, Destination Rotorua Marketing (DRM) has produced a response video which went live at 10am this morning on the RotoruaNZ Facebook page with a competition.
The tongue in cheek video shows three local born and bred Rotorua guys, Dan, Spurds and Tatai, talking how good life is in the 'real Vegas' - Rotorua.
Where the Cody’s ad showed Kiwi boys in Las Vegas trying to substitute Rotorua's geysers with Las Vegas fountains, mud pools with a rooftop spa, the motel strip with the Las Vegas Strip and finally showing huge disappointment at there being no substitute for the luge; the Rotorua version shows the huge appreciation of experiencing the real versions when they get back!
The Rotorua lads have a local Croucher’s craft brewed ale in hand, as they talk about how excited they are to be back in Rotovegas while on their mountain bikes at the Whakarewarewa Forest lookout. They see the Te Puia geyser explode, do press ups in geothermal mud at Hells Gate, go along ‘the strip’ – motel mile in Dan’s ute and finally come upon the Luge at Skyline Rotorua where they
excitedly race each other down Mt Ngongotaha.
The tongue in cheek video is now on Facebook and those who like and share the video, go in the draw to win the experience on the video with the Rotorua boys hosting them. They will go mountain biking in Whakarewarewa Forest; to Te Puia for a guided tour and cultural show; experience a Hells Gate geothermal walk, mud bath and sulphur spa; to Skyline Rotorua for a gondola and Luge down Mt Ngongataha; and finally to BREW for beer tastings. Accommodation will be at Rotovegas Motel which features in ‘the strip’ part of the video.
In the end whether you are a proponent of the Rotovegas tagline or not - sometimes it's about not taking yourself too seriously and just having some fun. Make no mistake, there is only one Rotorua and we love it!
