Good turnout for health hub meetings

The Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) is pleased with the response and number of people who have attended the community meetings about the North Canterbury health hub.

About 75 people attended the first of two meetings held during the day in Rangiora, a further 25 at the Kaiapoi meeting and 30 people at Amberley last week.

Two more meetings are being held this week – in Culverden tomorrow night (Tuesday, April 24) and Rangiora on the night of Thursday, April 26.

Carolyn Gullery, CDHB General Manager, Planning and Funding, says the quality of response to the public meetings had been pleasing so far, both in terms of turn-out and feedback.

“So far with our initial planning is aligning with how the North Canterbury community sees its health needs. We have already received some good suggestions from the public for the planning of the hub,” Carolyn says.

A survey is being circulated around the area with a closing date of Sunday, May 6 giving all interested parties further opportunity to have their say. Once all the survey results and feedback has been collected, the health hub concept plan will be drafted and a business case developed.

It is expected that the concept design for the facility will be completed later this year with a completion date for the health hub planned for June 2013.

The remaining health hub meetings are:

• Tuesday, April 24, 6.30pm – 8pm, Community Room, Amuri Area School, School Road, Culverden

• Thursday, April 26, 6.30pm – 8pm, School Hall Ashgrove School, 48 Seddon Street, Rangiora
