New Opportunity For Recognition At Property Industry Awards
New Zealand’s best commercial property developments will receive greater recognition at this year’s Property Council Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards, held in June.
With a record number of properties to evaluate and a consistently high quality of entries over the last few years, a new ‘Best in Category’ award has been introduced to recognise the most outstanding property among those awarded excellence in each category.
The introduction of the new category will be a better acknowledgement of the country’s top property developments, said Property Council’s chief executive Connal Townsend.
“There has been feedback within the industry that it would be great if we could give accolades to the best of the best properties developed in New Zealand, and with the calibre as high as it is, we have decided to introduce another layer of judging to the awards,” said Mr Townsend.
“The addition of a new bar of recognition will streamline the competition process by providing a more succinct finalist list for the pre-eminent supreme award, and it will allow the winners to receive the recognition they deserve.”
Chief Judge of the Property Industry Awards John Dunn says he has been overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of properties entered this year. “The selection put forward for judging demonstrates another year of very strong entries across all categories. I am heartened by the level of quality - these awards will truly be an exhibition of the best properties in the country,” Mr Dunn said.
The long running Property Council Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards are New Zealand’s most prestigious commercial property awards. This year will see 82 properties evaluated in 10 categories – one of which will be chosen as the Supreme Award Winner. Last year’s supreme winner was Highbrook Business Park, which impressed judges as an internationally competitive development.
Excellence Awards are given to specific properties that best meet criteria set out in the judging guidelines, while Merit Awards are given to properties that show special distinction.
Eligible entries that are selected as finalists go through a rigorous, three-month process of detailed review which includes site visits by the judges.
Criteria that the submissions are judged against include the economic and financial viability of the property, usability, environmental impact and urban design principles. Submissions are open to both members and non-members of Property Council.
Property Council looks forward to another sell-out black tie awards event on Friday 8 June at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland. Tickets are available to purchase from today. Visit www.propertynz.co.nz for more information.
