Easter holiday timetable changes for bus, ferries and trains
Auckland Transport advises the rail network will be closed for Easter and there are changes to timetables for buses and ferries during the holiday break.
Friday (Good Friday) 6 April and Monday (Easter Monday) 8 April are public holidays therefore buses and ferries will operate on a public holiday timetable.
Auckland Transport and KiwiRail are taking advantage of the annual rail network Easter closure to continue upgrading the rail network for electrification.
Replacement rail bus services will be provided during the closures and special timetables will be in place for them. For full details go to www.maxx.co.nz Details will also be available at stations.

There will be no trains or rail replacement buses operating on Good Friday 6 April
On Saturday 7, Sunday 8 and Monday 9 April, train services will be replaced by rail replacement buses

The Nite Rider service will not operate on Good Friday but will run as normal on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Work being carried out by Auckland Transport and KiwiRail along the rail network includes ongoing installation of foundations, masts and wires for electrification. Significant works are also taking place at Papakura including re-signalling.
At Wiri, preparation works on a brand new depot is taking place. This is where the new electric trains will be maintained.
The old portion of the Orakei Road Bridge will be demolished as part of the project to replace it with a higher bridge so electric trains can pass underneath. It will also be widened to allow for wider footpaths, traffic lanes and central median.
These works are scheduled over public holidays, weekends and evenings when fewer people are usually travelling in order to minimise disruption to passengers. As with any large programme of work there is always a degree of risk that the work may over-run for any number of reasons.
Contingency plans are always arranged in advance and KiwiRail, Veolia and Auckland Transport maintain close contact throughout any block of line to ensure necessary communications and measures are in place.
Customers will be kept informed if there is any impact on passenger services as a result of these works and are also advised to check MAXX before travelling.
