Prize draw to encourage participation in
‘Perceptions of Safety Survey’
ROTORUA 30.03.12: Rotorua District
Council’s (RDC) ‘Perceptions of Safety Survey’ gets
underway next week and anyone who completes the survey
online will be entered in a prize draw.
In addition to the online survey local research company APR Consultants has been commissioned by the council to survey 400 randomly selected Rotorua residents by telephone.
Residents are being given the opportunity to have their say on their perceptions of safety in Rotorua, and will be asked about their awareness of local safety initiatives and whether they have experienced any crime.
It is the second year the annual survey has been available online in addition to the telephone survey. To encourage people to complete the survey online, RDC is this year offering a prize pack made up of a double adult pass to Rotorua Aquatic Centre, a double adult movie pass to Reading Cinema, and a $50 Warehouse voucher.
RDC community safety projects officer Amy Duckett says the online option allows more residents to have an input.
“The results of the survey help us to evaluate the success of community safety programmes, as well as giving us an indication of which areas we need to improve on, and where more support might be needed in our community.”
Mrs Duckett says she would especially like to see young people having their say through the online survey although all Rotorua residents aged 15 years and over are eligible to participate.
The 2012 ‘Perceptions of Safety Survey’ will be available on the Rotorua District Council and APR websites, as well as popular youth webpage Rotaz, community site MyRotorua, and through the Treasure Rotorua Facebook page.
Results are expected to be available by the end of June 2012.
