Rotorua’s State of the Environment Report to go online

29 March 2012

Rotorua’s State of the Environment Report to be made available online

Rotorua’s State of the Environment reporting is to be presented online on the Rotorua District Council (RDC) website.

Previously the State of the Environment report was a hard copy document published every five years, however from tomorrow [Friday 30 March] new online reporting will be available at rdc.govt.nz in an easy to read format.

RDC environmental planner Anabella Vidal says online information will be updated annually allowing users to access and view topics of interest at their convenience.

“Online reporting consists of four main themes that reflect council’s strategic direction and report on the whole of the Rotorua district, including Sustainable Environment, Sustainable Economy and Sustainable Infrastructure.

“The fourth theme called Lakes A Zone provides more detailed information specifically covering our district’s most nationally significant zone of the district.”

Ms Vidal says she expects groups of indicators to be released quarterly each year in March, June, September and December. In addition to indicators, monitoring reports and documents will also be provided online.

People can sign up to a quarterly e-newsletter that informs them of indicator releases and updates.

To sign up visit the ‘State of the Environment’ section of the RDC website www.rdc.govt.nz or send an email to environmental.reporting@rdc.govt.nz with the words ‘sign up’ in the subject box.
