Public Views Sought on Social Well-Being Strategy

Hamilton’s Social Well-being Strategy is up for review, and the community’s views on what it should include in future
are being sought.
The strategy, one of several currently under review, was formulated in 2006 by Hamilton City Council and various partner
organisations.
It identified social priorities for the city, ranging from housing and homelessness to city safety, and activities for
Hamilton’s youth. The strategy seeks to make positive change to the city for its residents, identifies key social
priorities, and building strength and cohesion among Hamilton’s communities.
The review will be done collectively by partner organisations, with Mayor Julie Hardaker and Councillors Pippa Mahood
and Margaret Forsyth the Hamilton City Council representatives.
Cr Mahood says: "As the outcomes of the strategy are run in collaboration with government and other funding agencies,
this is a very timely opportunity to get comment, as we need to make sure the areas of priority in this review are
mirrored by the community. There has been a great deal of social change since the strategy was developed in 2006."
The public meeting will be held at Council’s Reception Lounge on Tuesday 27 March, from 5.30pm.
