Council weighs new technology to improve service
Online forums, petitions, blogs and videos are among a dozen options Hutt City Council is considering as it seeks to improve community involvement in its decision making process and the way service is provided in its call centre.
A survey launched today invites residents to have their say about which of the technologies they would prefer to use in communicating with the council.
The survey also asks about any previous experiences in communicating with the council or making suggestions through formal or informal means.
General manager Kim Kelly says the survey results will guide council’s e-democracy and service centre projects.
“Both projects aim to invest in new technologies to remove boundaries that prevent people from having their say and make it easier for people to do business with us.
“We want people to be more involved in shaping council decisions about the city’s future and confident they’re receiving the best possible service when they contact us. The survey results will help us do this.”
The survey is available online at www.huttcity.govt.nz/haveyoursay or paper copies can be completed at council’s building on Laings Road, Hutt City i-SITE or Hutt City libraries.
The survey runs until Friday 13 April.
