NEWS RELEASE
New General Manager at InterContinental Wellington
Scott Hamilton may be new to InterContinental Wellington as its general manager but is no stranger to the charms of Wellington itself.
Hamilton says he is thrilled to have the opportunity to live in Wellington again with his family, having previously managed the city’s Duxton Hotel in the mid-00s.
“First and foremost I’m honoured to be the general manager of such an iconic New Zealand hotel. It’s a hotel I’ve long admired not only for its place in the Wellington community but also its standing in the business travel sector,” Hamilton said. “As an avid road cyclist though, part of the attraction of the move is to get back amongst the Wellington hills. It’s a really special place.”
The prospects of great coffee, superb food and easy access to the Wairarapa region are other aspects Hamilton lists as part of the all-round appeal.
Hamilton has enjoyed considerable success in general manager roles with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) properties in Australia, most recently being general manager of Holiday Inn Melbourne on Flinders as well as IHG area manager of Human Resources for Victoria.
Hamilton replaces Steven Greenwood who has moved to Crowne Plaza Terragal, New South Wales.
