Adi Dick performs Free Public Concert

News Release: Thursday, 8 March 2012

Adi Dick performs Free Public Concert
in celebration of new Arts Centre at Scots College

On Sunday 11 March, renowned Wellington singer, songwriter, beatmaker and producer Adi Dick will perform live at Scots College in a free concert celebrating the opening of the
school’s new Creative & Performing Arts Centre.

“I really enjoy collaborating with friends and this gig is a great opportunity to perform live with my good mate Matt Newdick, whom I believe to be one of the best bass players in the country. We’ll be performing some of my new material, and we’ll definitely air some of the old favourites as well,” said Adi.

“My music’s been described as ‘South Pacific Soul’, which I think pretty much sums it up – growing up in New Zealand you can’t help but be influenced by a whole myriad of different styles. When I perform I’m on vocals, guitar and mixing as I go. It’s a lot of fun,” he said

“The new Creative & Performing Arts Centre will be open on the day for everyone to take a good look around. It’s in the process of being kitted out with an amazing full-spec Recording Studio which is an awesome resource not only for the school, but also for the Wellington music scene. Matt and I are really looking forward to getting in there once school’s out and recording some of our new material,” commented Dick.

“The gig will basically be a couple of hours of chilled tunes on a summer’s afternoon. It’s family-friendly concert, so I imagine people will grab the kids, their mates and a picnic and just come down and hang out for the afternoon,” he said.

“We’re very lucky to have musicians of Adi & Matt’s calibre perform live at the College,” confirmed Headmaster Graeme Yule. “Last Friday New Zealander of the Year, Sir Richard Taylor and Lady Tania Taylor officially opened our stunning new Creative & Performing Arts Centre. This free public concert is really an opportunity to throw a party and invite our friends, neighbours and the whole community, to come and enjoy some great music, and check out these new facilities while they’re here,” he said.

The state-of-the-art Creative & Performing Arts Centre includes three floors of purpose-built creative teaching, rehearsal and performance spaces. There are computer pods for graphics and robotics, spacious art and music classrooms, acoustically-designed practice rooms, a designated rehearsal studio and professionally-rigged stage for theatre, plans for a full-spec recording studio and facilities for film and animation production.
