New Youth Card offers young
people support, advice and discounts
ROTORUA 02.03.12 : Rotorua District Youth Council is currently distributing its newly developed 2012 Youth Card to schools and youth-based organisations throughout Rotorua district.
The cards are available to Rotorua young people between the ages of 11 and 18.
Rotorua District Council’s youth projects officer Jill Campbell said the credit card-sized Youth Card provides information about a range local services available to help young people.
“Our young people are much safer when they’re connected to the community so having this information at their fingertips by way of a funky little wallet-sized card, helps keeps them in touch with what our city has to offer.”
The youth card identifies places for young people to chill out and provides contact details for legal, health, counselling, employment, training, and transport services.
Discount offers from many local outlets are also on the card, including deals from food, recreation, clothing and entertainment stores.
“Information on the 2012 Youth Card ranges from Reading Cinemas’ Hotline to the ‘It’s Not OK’ Family Violence 0800 number,” says Mrs Campbell.
“And to ensure young people keep the card handy when they’re in town, sponsors have provided great discounts, so if they go for a swim, watch a movie, or eat pizza at certain locations they’ll be able to get a great deal.”
