Inspirational presentations from artists, designers and ‘artsMAD’ locals

ROTORUA 02.03.12 : Local art lovers are being encouraged to get to a dynamic presentation evening next week to hear what makes some of Rotorua’s best creative talent tick.

The artsMAD (arts, media, architecture and design) evening at Rotorua Arts Village is about bringing local and visiting creative people together to share their knowledge, inspirational thoughts and ideas, through short dynamic visual presentations.

Creative presenters on Wednesday [7 March] include painter Angela Swann-Cronin; portrait photographer and current Arts Village intern Brittany Erikson –Pain; photographer and film maker Andrew Warner; fashion designer Adrienne Whitewood; glass artist John Skudder; sculptor Lyn Schaeffer; photographer and art tutor Riley Claxton; and world explorer Oliver Bruce.

Rotorua District Council (RDC) community arts officer Kiri Jarden says the artsMAD event is a fantastic opportunity for local people to gain insight into what drives creativity, while also gaining some inspiration.

“This event is always stimulating and a great way to recharge the battery in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

“Speakers are so passionate about their individual art forms, and the audiences become so involved, it’s sometimes difficult to stop presenters after their allotted time.”

artsMAD takes place at Rotorua Arts Village on Hinemaru St on Wednesday 7 March from 5.30pm. Cover charge is $6 and includes a drink and nibbles.

The event is organised by Rotorua District Council, Jill Walker and Rotorua Arts Village, and supported by Rotorua Trust and RDC.
