Rethinking romance this Valentine’s Day
Rethinking romance this Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day, for those of us with busy, stressful lives, can be just another pressure.
“So let’s think about romance differently,” Relationship Services Whakawhanaungatanga Chief Executive Jeff Sanders says.
“It can be something that fits into a busy life and it can be something that works as part of a long-term relationship when the initial gloss has gone.
“Simple things like taking you partner a cup of tea in bed in the morning, enjoying your partner’s quirks and working together on problems rather than letting them divide you are about what real romance is all about.
“Making time for your partner is an essential ingredient in keeping romance alive. Romance is about feeling special to someone, and time and attention communicate that message.
“Realising that someone thinks about you, pays attention to what you like and enjoys time in your company is more precious than any price tag.
“So if you want to up the romance in your relationship, spend your time rather than your money,” he says.
