Recycling bins overflowing during the festive season?

Christmas brings celebrations that can mean additional paper, bottles, cans and other recyclables that can fill the kerbside bins and crates to overflowing.

The Palmerston North City Council would like to remind residents that they can drop off any surplus recyclable waste to recycling centres over the holiday season.

Residents should note that that, while it is beautiful, the foil wrapping paper cannot be recycled and should not be placed in recycling bins.

The City’s recycling centres are open at the following times over the holiday season:

Ferguson Street: (no greenwaste)
Christmas Day Closed
Boxing Day 10am - 3pm
27, 28 December 10am - 3pm
29, 30, 31 December 7.30am – 4.30pm
1, 2, 3, 4 January 10am – 3pm
5 January 7.30am – 4.30pm

Awapuni Recycling and Greenwaste:
Christmas Day Closed
Boxing Day 12pm – 4pm
27, 28 December 12pm – 4pm
29, 30, 31 December
1, 2, 3, 4 January 12pm – 4pm
5 January 7.30am – 4.30pm
