Lane Neave to honour 2012 earthquake anniversary.
Christchurch law firm Lane Neave will honour the one year anniversary of the 22nd February 2011 earthquake by closing
it’s offices at midday.
Chief executive, Meryll Waters said, “the events of the past year have reminded us all of the importance of family and
those close to us. As a firm we wanted to give our staff the opportunity to reflect and participate in any memorial
services planned for that afternoon or simply spending time with family.”
Many Lane Neave staff were inside the firms offices in the PWC building when the 22nd February earthquake struck. The
firm was now located over 4 buildings in the city from Victoria Street, Wairakei Road, Sir Gil Simpson Drive to the Main
North Road in Papanui and although the flow on effects on the earthquake and subsequent aftershocks has been stressful
and disruptive, the experience have also drawn the team together.
“In the last few months and as we approached the one year anniversary, we continue to remain optimism and endeavour to
give our team hope for the future” said Mrs. Waters.
This optimism and the confirmed focus of Lane Neave staff was formally recognised among its peers recently when the firm
was awarded the “New Zealand employer of choice –mid size law firm” at the recent 2011 New Zealand Law Awards.
Mrs. Waters said “there has never been any doubt about the firms commitment to the communities of Christchurch and the
city about the opportunities that await as the rebuild gains momentum.”
