Volunteers to be recognised

Volunteers who’ve done amazing things will be recognised at a ceremony on Monday 5 December, which is International Volunteer Day.

Those receiving Volunteer Recognition Awards range from a fourteen year old schoolgirl to someone who’s been a volunteer fire fighter for over fifty years. Volunteering Canterbury manager, Ruth Gardner said: “Their stories are heart-warming and inspiring, and everyone is welcome to join us at the Awards presentation.” This will be at 4pm at St Mark’s Community Centre in Withells Road, Avonhead. The guest speaker will be Mike Crean from the “Press” and there will be music from “Element”, a barbershop quartet from Cashmere High.
