PGG Wrightson helps bring the big game to rural New Zealand
PGG Wrightson has teamed up with Tui Brewery and other local businesses to bring a taste of Super Rugby to rural New Zealand. This year’s Super 15 pre-season match up, featuring the Crusaders and Hurricanes, will be held on Saturday 11 February at Neil Symonds’ farm - home of the Mangatainoka RFC and conveniently situated next to the iconic Tui Brewery!
This game follows the success of the previous two pre-season games held in Mangatainoka between the Hurricanes and the Blues and the Hurricanes and Chiefs respectively. Both sold out weeks before kickoff, attracting almost 10,000 spectators as well as accolades from some of New Zealand’s rugby greats, including Sir Brian Lochore, Keith Quinn and Sir Colin Meads.
Duncan Fletcher, PGG Wrightson Regional Manager for Wairarapa says ticket sales are expected to be brisk. “Last year was the Hurricane’s biggest attendance at a pre-season game and the only pre-season game ever sold out. Added draw cards this year include the pre-and post-match events and entertainment, including the curtain raiser between the PGG Wrightson Invitation XV and Tui Invitation XV.”
Along with PGG Wrightson and Tui, joint supporters this year are Norwood Farm Machinery, Sharpes Stockfeeds, Hirequip, K+M Print, MoreFM and Altum. “For PGG Wrightson there is a natural alignment with this event, combining our commitment to rural New Zealand with grassroots rugby. At its heart, this is what rural New Zealand is all about!”
