John Aspinall, the beau ideal of a high country farmer

Don Nicolson, who served on Federated Farmers National Board with John Aspinall but who was unable to make his funeral in Wanaka, has described Mr Aspinall as the epitome of a High Country farmer.

“I want Sue and their family to know that John is very much in my thoughts and prayers,” said Don Nicolson.

“It was my honour to serve on Federated Farmers National Board with John. There are few people who deserve the epithet of being great, but John Aspinall was one of them.

“John was very much the beau ideal of a High Country farmer. Warm, generous and passionate about the land he so loved.

“His loss is felt by us all ,” Don Nicolson said.
