MUSIC WORKSHOPS / CONCERTS
LAST CHANCE TO DO SOME AWESOME DRUMMING!!
Get your rhythm sticks out and be taught by the wonderful, the rhythmical, the fun and fabulous teacher Andreas Lepper. All welcome, no experience needed. The last workshops were a blast with a performance at the Petone Carnival to boot and we’ll be organising a performance at the end of this session. So if you missed it first time around, this is your chance to drum your heart out!

LATE LOUNGE : ROSENEATH CENTENNIAL RAGTIME BAND
An evening of foot stomping New Orleans’ style jazz, blues and ragtime inspired by the brass bands and music from the early 1900’s. Mixing saloon-style swaggers with gospel shouts are Dale ‘Dr’ Jellyman on thetonky tonk piano, brothers Mike (tap drums) and Adrian Jensen (guitar), Matt Enright (trumpet), Frankie Curac (clarinet) and Dan Yeablsey (contrabass)

JAN PRESTON’s ‘BEAT OUT THE BOOGIE’
Toe-tapping from beginning to end with Jan’s trademark original boogie and ragtime which confirms her reputation as a magnetic live performer, brilliant piano player, singer and communicator. Repertoire includes Bumble Boogie, Big Ben Boogie, Black & White Rag, as well as her own songs and a ravishing bogie version of Beethoven’s Fur Elise. Winner of 7 music awards, Jan plays festivals and concerts throughout Australia, NZ & Europe so this is your chance to catch her.

LYDIA McDONNELL
Lydia performs her own songs and has performed on live television and radio at events including Brother Christmas Spectacular and recently took part in the Rugby World Cup Anthem choir. She is currently recording her debut album to be released in January 2012 and performs a repertoire of classical, folk, pop and light operatic in the Little Theatre. A show not to be missed.

Three Massey University final year photography students have brought this exciting exhibition to Petone featuring a unique mixture of landscape, architecture and renaissance inspired photographs. 100 BIKES PROJECT : PART 1
Now this is my kind of exhibition! Not only do you get to see the artwork but you get to ride it! Dunedin artist Scott Eady restores a collection of children’s discarded bicycles, scooters and trikes making this special exhibition interactive as it allows children (2 – 8 year olds) to ride through the gallery on a unique customised stead.

ARTISTS WANTED TO DONATE AN HOUR
Gracefield Early Childhood centre is looking for artists/student artists to donate an hour of their time to come in and engage their 4 year olds with an art activity e.g. how to make a print, easy clay work, cardboard / wearable art workshops. They would also like the artist to showcase some of their own work to inspire the youngsters. The Centre will provide limited materials and there is about 12 in a group.

Justin Morgan, Director of the NZ Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington, is coming to talk about working with galleries including different gallery models he’s been involved in and how to have a successful show. This is your opportunity to tap into his great knowledge & experience of artist run spaces, dealer galleries & public galleries.
Ideas Kitchen is a 6 weekly session of talks and discussion for visual artists on how to build successful careers in the arts. We aim to provide information, networking and connection between artists to build a vibrant community.
